Dr. Terry Gillespie
Dr. Terry Gillespie is our advisor on Meteorological issues. Terry is assisting WIN on seed corn, tomato and grape irrigation models as well as methods of recording leaf wetness. Dr. Gillespie holds a B.Sc. in Physics and Mathematics from the University of British Columbia, a Master's degree in Meteorology from the University of Toronto, and a Ph.D. in Agricultural Meteorology from the University of Guelph. He previously worked as a weather forecaster. Dr. Gillespie has been nurturing WIN since the start of the program and has provided valuable input into many projects. We are thankful for his ongoing support.
Dr. Dave Hooker
Dr. Dave Hooker is a Research Associate at Ridgetown College. He is the co-developer of the Fusarium model for wheat, which WIN uses to generate 15 DONcast maps daily. Dave holds a B.Sc. in Agriculture, M.Sc., and a Ph.D. from the University of Guelph. He also has an Agricultural Production Management Diploma from Ridgetown College. Dr. Hooker previously worked as an Agricultural Researcher. He has been assisting WIN since our inception and we appreciate his ongoing support.
Dr. Art Schaafsma
Dr. Art Schaafsma is a Pathologist, Entomologist and the current director of Ridgetown Campus, University of Guelph. Besides teaching, he conducts research, extensive work in field crop pest management, and coordinates food grade corn research programs in Ontario. Art is the co-developer of the Fusarium model (DONcast) for wheat. Dr. Schaafsma holds a B.Sc. (Agr), M.Sc. and Ph.D. Degrees from the University of Guelph. He previously worked as a Research Scientist and Lecturer. Dr. Schaafsma has been a valuable research contributor to our programs and we appreciate his support.
Gord Drewitt
Gord is a specialist in biometeorology and soil science. He provides WIN with program research with specific responsibility in the scientific aspects of parameter measurement. Gord contributes to proposal writing and generally assists with research and analysis. He specializes in Matlab and LaTeX programming. Gord holds a PhD in soil science from the University of British Columbia specializing in ecosystem-atmosphere carbon-dioxide exchange.
Ken Devine
Ken Devine is a meteorologist and meteorological instrument consultant who spent almost 38 years working for the Meteorological Service of Canada (MSC). After completing his degree and meteorologist training he was posted to military bases in eastern Canada as a forecaster. Ken held numerous positions at the MSC headquarters in Downsview since the mid 1970's, including ten years in the Instrument Branch. He also served four years as Superintendent of Climate Data Standards. Since retirement he has been involved in contract work for MSC and privately involved in the study of Canadian meteorological instruments, both current and historical. Ken has been an invaluable advisor and mentor to WIN.
Joseph Krogman
Joseph Krogman is the webmaster, network administrator and custom developer at Ridgetown Campus, University of Guelph. He was the creator of our original site, ownweb.ca, and was integral in developing the tools we make available on the web. Joseph graduated in 1996 as an Electronics Engineering Technician and has a background in telecommunications, network and server administration, web design and application development. He continues to assist WIN as an ongoing advisor to our web development, and we are grateful for his support.
Doug Young
Doug Young is a College Professor. He conducts research and instructs students in soil science. He is currently working on the field irrigation study in seed corn. Doug holds a B.Sc.(Agr.) and M.Sc. from the University of Guelph. He previously worked on soil management research projects such as tillage, crop rotations, cover crops and compaction just to name a few. Doug compliments the WIN team with his expertise in soils.
